.
Filming for a new Netflix series is underway. And Jaden Smith was spotted decked out in ‘70s threads and a big afro for his character in Brooklyn yesterday. The After Earth star nabbed a role in Baz Luhrmann’s music-driven Netflix drama “The Get Down.”
Starring opposite DOPE star Shameik Moore (above), Jaden will be playing Marcus 'Dizzee' Kipling, a psychedelically talented and enigmatic graffiti writer' from the Bronx.
Deadline provides a synopsis of the film that reads:
Set in 1970s New York City, the series — a long-time passion project for Luhrmann — revolves around a ragtag crew of South Bronx teenagers who are wild in the streets — nothings and nobodies with no one to shelter them, except one another. Smith will recur as Marcus “Dizzee” Kipling, 18, a psychedelically talented and enigmatic graffiti writer raised in the South Bronx.Sounds interesting.
The 13-episode series will debut on Netflix in 2016. We're here for it. Will you be tuning in?
