Kate and William's day of supporting Sir Ben and his crew was blown off course by inclement weather
They were scheduled to visit the team base, meet international crews and present winning team with medals
Sir Ben commented: 'Today was a shame but we will get that sorted out and book the weather in for next year'
However the Duchess did get to try her hand at a sailing simulator and was heard saying it felt 'weird'
Kate joined Sir Ben in June 2014 when he launched Britain's bid to win the America's Cup for the first timeKeen sailor Kate is a royal patron of the 1851 Trust, which works to inspire the next generation through sailing
They're
famous for being in sync but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took
their famously strong partnership even step further on a visit to cheer
on Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie and his crew in Portsmouth, by
wearing matching navy fleeces printed with their royal titles.
Fresh
from celebrating Prince George's birthday on Wednesday, the keen
sailors left their son and two-month-old daughter Princess Charlotte in
the care of royal staff to travel attend the America's Cup World Series
heats in Portsmouth.
But
the couple were soon disappointed as thanks to high winds gusting at
30mph, the sailing was cancelled just an hour after their arrival due
to 'extreme weather'.
All smiles: The Duchess braved the
rain today in Portsmouth to cheer on Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben
Ainslie and his crew as they race in the America's Cup World Series
We're used to seeing the Duchess of Cambridge
in more demure looks of late, with her last outing being in Alexander
McQueen for Princess Charlotte's Christening.
However Kate's still a sports lover at heart, and we love nothing more than seeing her in a casual get up. While attending the America's Cup sailing competition this morning, Kate dressed for the occasion in a nautical look of dark denim skinny jeans, breton tee and her favourite Sebago deck shoes. All accessorized with a Landrover Bar fleece to keep her cosy from the rain (stylish and practical - top marks to Kate!)
The great news is that Kate's Sebago deck shoes are still available to buy from the brand's website, so if you're keen to channel those nautical vibes just click the link to the right to purchase.
With graphic prints and colour pop shades, deck shoes hit the Spring runways at Akris, Emporio Armani and Viktor & Rolf, and will look just as great with jeans as they will with summer dresses.
